• Mother's Day Gift

This piece is 5” x 1”. I made it as a gift for my mom. I wanted to make it look different than many of my other pieces, so I was experimenting with new glazing techniques. This turned out to be one of my favorite pieces because of the way the glaze set.

  • Ocean Jar

This piece is 3.5” x 2.25”. It was my first attempt on the wheel to have the walls of a vessel converge and then flare out. I’m really pleased with the final result, especially the finish of the glaze.

  • Olive Bowl

This piece is 5” x 2.5”. It was one of the first bowls I made. I’m really pleased with how the bowl came out, especially with the technique I used for the glaze.

  • Copper Bubbles

This piece is 4” x 2”. This was another piece where I was trying to have the walls change shape as they went up. I like the shape, but I really like the glaze’s strange bubble effect. It is very unique.

  • Circles

This piece is 6” x 1.25”. This is one of my most advanced pieces. It is a prototype for a larger serving piece that I am making.

  • Happy Accident

This piece is 3.5” x 3.25”. This piece was the unexpected result of a creative accident. When I was making this piece, I tried to have the walls change shape, but they started to collapse. When I pushed them inward, it ended up with this unique design.

  • Ripple Effect

This piece is 4” x 2”. I made this my freshman year, and I like it because the interior reminds me of the ripple effect created by a drop of water in the pond. The glaze represents sparkles of sunlight reflecting from the water.

  • Ecru Waves

This piece is 5” x 1.5”. This is an altered form piece. I made it perfectly symmetrical on the wheel, took it off the wheel, and then molded the edge to create the distinctive waved rim.

  • Moss Bowl

This piece is 4” x 2”. This was the first piece I ever glazed. I love how the streaks of blue against the green background turned out.

  • Terra Cotta Bowl

This piece is 5” x 2.25”. This piece started out as a cylinder, but I left too much clay on the bottom and it was very wide. I ended up trimming it into the shape of a bowl, and I’m really pleased with how the proportions turned out.

  • Turquoise Tea Cup

This piece is 3” x 3”. This was my first piece where I successfully trimmed the bottom to create a boot. The purpose of creating a boot for a ceramic piece is so that the piece will more readily retain heat.

  • Earth and Sky

This piece is 6” x 1.75”. I originally planned to glaze this piece with a shiny, reflective glaze, but then I decided to try layering glazes on top of each other. This created a distinctive marbling effect. I’m also really happy with how the glaze and the shape interact with each other.
